Peppermint and Blood Orange Invigorating Body Scrub
1 pound of sea salt (fine to medium grain)
1 oz sunflower oil
3 oz jojoba oil
2 oz liquid soap base
1/4 teaspoon peppermint essential oil
1/3 teaspoon blood orange essential oil
2 teaspoons dried raspberry seeds
(A list of recommended suppliers for these ingredients was included in my previous email).
Instructions:
Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl and transfer into desired packaging. For "home" use, you can use Tupperware or similar packaging. If you plan to gift or sell the scrub, obviously more elaborate packaging is called for. (See the Handcrafter's Companion for a comprehensive list of packaging ideas and recommended suppliers.)
To use the scrub, add the desired amount to the palm of your hand or a scrub mitt. Gently rub over skin to exfoliate and invigorate your skin. Rinse well.

PAIN RELIEVER SALVE
Mix together 1 oz of chickweed (reduces inflammation and aids in healing), 1 oz of
wormwood (a great pain reliever), and 1 ounce of yarrow (an anti-bacterial agent that
also helps relieve pain). The yarrow plant contains achillein and achilleic acid.
These substances reduce the clotting time of blood, so they help stop any bleeding.
Yarrow also has pain-killing and anti-inflammatory properties that are similar to aspirin.
Add the mixture of herbs to 2 pints of olive oil and simmer 3 hours.
Strain and add 3 ounces of beeswax and 1 teaspoon of tincture of benzoin.
Test for consistency before pouring into wide mouth containers.

Natural Homemade Deodorant bars
Ingredients-
1/2 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup shea butter, cocoa butter or mango butter (or a mix of all three equal to 1 part)
1/2 cup + 1 tsp beeswax
optional: Vitamin E oil to preserve. I added 1 tsp vitamin E oil for this recipe)
3 tablespoons baking soda (Omit this if you have sensitive skin and just use extra arrowroot)
1/2 cup organic arrowroot powder
2-3 capsules of high quality probiotics that don’t need to be refrigerated (I love Bio Kult brand)
optional: Essential oils of choice – I used about 20 drops of lavender essential oil
This recipe can be adjusted to make any quantity that you’d like by increasing the amount of ingredients used. This batch made enough deodorant for my husband and I for about 2-3 months. You could also cut the recipe in half if you want to make a smaller amount.
How To Make---
Combine coconut oil, shea (or other) butter, and beeswax in a double boiler, or a glass bowl over a smaller saucepan with 1 inch of water in it. UPDATE: Combine in a quart size glass mason jar with a lid instead and place this in a small saucepan of water until melted. This will save your bowl and you can just designate this jar for these type of projects and not even need to wash it out…
Turn the burner on and bring water to a boil. Stir ingredients constantly until they are melted and smooth:
Remove from heat and add the vitamin E oil, baking soda, arrowroot powder, probiotics, and essential oils. Make sure the mixture is not hot to the touch (warm is ok) so that the heat doesn’t kill the probiotics.
Gently stir by hand until all ingredients are incorporated.
If you will be making these into bars, pour into muffin tins or other molds while still liquid. If you will be putting into an old deodorant container to use like stick deodorant, let the mixture harden for about 15-20 minutes at room temperature to harden and when it is about the consistency of peanut butter, use a spoon to scoop into the deodorant tube and pack down to fill. Then, leave the cap off overnight to completely harden before using.

Homemade Natural Hair Removal Wax
Sugar waxing is an all-natural, very easy way of waxing. All you need is 3 ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen. It is a great alternative to waxing with chemical-filled waxes, it is gentle because it sticks to hair, not skin, and it's also a great way to save money! Here's how to make and use sugar wax.
Ingredients You Need:
2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup lemon or lime juice
1/2 cup water
How to Make the Wax
To make the sugar wax, put all the ingredients into a sauce pan or pot (preferably a tall one incase some of the mixture splatters out of the pot or pan). Turn the heat on high and stir the mixture constantly.
When the mixture starts to boil, turn the heat down to low, and let the mixture simmer until it turns a golden brown color. Keep stirring constantly. When the mixture reaches a golden brown color, take the pot or pan off the stove and either let it cool in the pot/pan, or pour it in a jar you would like to use to store it, or pour it on a non-stick sprayed area to let it cool.
When the mixture is cool to the touch, it should have a caramel-like consistency. Take the mixture in your (clean) hands, and knead and pull at the wax and form it into a ball.
You can now use your sugar wax to remove hair
How to Use the Wax
To use the wax, make sure the area you are waxing is clean and dry. If you are waxing your armpits and you have some sweat or oils there, you can put a powder such as cornstarch or baby powder on your armpits, wipe off the excess, and then continue to wax.
Take your wax, spread it on the area firmly, going with the growth of the hair. Make sure to leave some wax in your grip. Then, quickly pull off the section of wax, against the growth of your hair. You may miss a few stray hairs, and you can either go back and wax the area again, or pluck the stray hairs with tweezers later. This natural wax is safe to use on any part of the body.
Never use the wax when it is hot- it could seriously burn you.
How to Store the Wax
To store the wax, roll it up into a ball, and place it in a jar or container. Store at room temperature. One batch of this mixture should last a few weeks, if not more.

Easy DIY Natural Handmade Soap Recipe Without Using Lye or Caustic Soda
1 1/2 cups grated white unscented soap or Castile soap
1/2 cup oatmeal (or crushed almonds, or pumice, or your choice of additive)
2 tablespoons honey
2 teaspoons almond oil (or your choice of nourishing oil)
5ml - 15ml essential oils or fragrance (depending on strength of scent)
Grate unscented, plain white soap (such as Dove, Ivory or similar) or use natural Castile soap, and place into a Pyrex or heat-resistant glass bowl. Add 1/4 cup of water. No need to stir, in fact, don't stir it no matter how tempted you may be, it adds too many air bubbles to your mix. Make a double boiler by placing Pyrex into a pot of simmering water and heat gently until melted.
Remove from heat and add remainder of ingredients. Fold in ingredients very carefully to mix without adding any bubbles if possible.
Next is to pour into your mold. This is where it gets fun. You can use so many things to make your soap how you want it to look. Sure you can buy soap molds in fancy designs, but a Pringles can, or old ice cream box (smeared with petroleum jelly so it releases) work just as well.
Pour soap into your mold and tap mold gently to release any air bubbles, and place in the refrigerator to set. After it is set enough to release it from the mold you can remove it and place it on a rack to dry fully (for at least 3 weeks to fully cure).
After soap has cured, you can cut and wrap up your natural handmade soap to use yourself, or give as great gifts. *Just remember that food color is not suitable for making soap. You can use herbs and spices for coloring and added benefits. As well as essential oils to add fabulous properties to your homemade soap.
There are tons of ways to spice this up with your choice of additives such as:
Citrus, Ginger & Almond
Gardener's soap - with pumice, orange and tea tree
Floral facial soap - rosehip seed oil, rose, neroli and sandalwood essential oils
1/2 cup oatmeal (or crushed almonds, or pumice, or your choice of additive)
